Dr. Jennifer Nguyen, Optometrist

I was born and raised in San Jose.  For college, I went to UC Berkeley and majored in integrative biology with an emphasis in human biology and health sciences. Throughout my time in college and after, I worked in several optometry offices to solidify that providing eye care was what I wanted for my career. What sparked and continued to ignite my passion for optometry was the ability to make a difference in my patient's lives by improving their vision, all the while getting the opportunity to learn more about their lives, their families, and what they use their eyes for every day. This led me back to UC Berkeley to complete my Doctor of Optometry degree.

During optometry school, I completed various externships including the Veteran's Affairs Hospital in Tacoma, Washington, the Hayward Wellness Clinic, as well as the John Muir Health/UCSF Health Berkeley Outpatient center. My externships trained me to practice full scope optometry to attend to any eye care needs such as prescribing glasses and contacts, as well as managing ocular diseases including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration.

Outside of work, I love to be outdoors with running or hiking, traveling and trying new foods, as well as frequenting new coffee shops with a good book in hand. I'm excited to work with you and your family as a part of the 20/20 Optometry of Silicon Valley Team.
