Just because you can see, does not mean your eyes have good teaming and can work together. With the rapid increase of people regularly using computers, any imbalance can cause eye strain, leading to headaches or your vision to worsen. How can you prevent this from happening? By getting your eyes checked regularly!
When should you get your eyes checked?
Children should get their first eye exam between the ages of 1 and 3. After you reach the age of 5, you should get annual eye exams. Your eye health is a part of your overall health, so annual eye exams are important to make sure your eyes are healthy and your vision is functioning properly. You should treat your annual eye exam to be just as important as your annual physical.
How can computers and other digital devices affect your eye health?
Using digital devices regularly can lead to a variety of eye issues, one of the most common being dry eyes. When working on a computer or digital device, we tend to not blink as much when we are trying to concentrate, ultimately leading to dry eyes. People on average blink about 25 times a minute, however when using a digital device, this drops 65% to about 7 times a minute.
Using a digital device for an extended period of time can also cause digital eye strain. Effects of digital eye strain include headaches, blurred vision, eye fatigue, and general eye discomfort. Blue light from digital devices can also cause permanent damage to your vision over time.
