Individualized Plans Make a Difference
At 20/20 Dry Eye Spa, we recognize how important it is to get to know each patient as an individual in order to set up the correct treatment plan. There is no one-size-fits-all, or one plan that works for everyone when it comes to treating dry eyes; every treatment plan is personalized. There are many options for treating dry eye syndrome, but unfortunately, there is no cure.
The team at 20/20 Dry Eye Spa treats the cause of the eye problem not just the symptoms. ● We evaluate the environment and lifestyle of a patient to see if changes can be made to reduce the symptoms of dry eyes. ● Once we identify the causes, a program is customized to each patient.
The mode of treatment varies depending on the severity of the condition. With the proper treatment plan in place, the team will work with the patient to maintain relief over time.
Children and Young Adults Need to Get Evaluated
A deficiency of oil, water, or mucus on the surface of your eyes causes dry eyes. Your eyes are not being moisturized by enough tears. This can be caused by contact lenses, medications, or the environment. Even if a person can make tears, the quality of tears may be poor or significantly less than normal. The drier the eyes, the more the cornea can become desensitized, so often people get used to chronic dry eyes.
Would you let your car run out of oil and not function correctly? You probably take your vehicle in for regular oil changes, so it doesn’t run dry. Treat your eyes regularly, too, and don’t let them dry out. 20/20 Dry Eye Spa treats for dry eyes, so it doesn't become the norm. There is no reason to live with dry eyes when there is a treatment available.

thorough eye evaluation
A thorough evaluation of your condition is necessary to determine if you are a candidate for dry eye treatment.
The team at 20/20 Dry Eye Spa is specifically trained in this field, but your regular optometrist or ophthalmologist may not be. We focus on the causes of any problems that patients might have, address the symptoms and develop a treatment plan.
At 20/20 Dry Eye Spa, Dr. Lee and her team use state-of-the-art technology that scans the meibomian glands. This medical imaging device is called Lipiscan. The scan will show how many glands are structurally available for both the top and bottom lids. These meibomian glands secrete the oil layer of your tears and prevent the water layer from evaporating quickly. If the glands are blocked for a period of time, they can “die” or atrophy. Once they atrophy, they will never grow back, which can cause one to have permanent dry eyes.
During this evaluation, we will find out how many glands are blocked and how many active glands you have. By looking at both the function and structure of your glands, we will create a treatment plan specifically designed for you.
We are proud to also offer IPL, Intense Pulsed Light. OptiLight by Lumenis is a light-based, non-invasive treatment done in the area below the eyes to manage dry eye. This is the first and only IPL FDA-approved for dry eye management.
