During the dry eye evaluation, we will perform a full lid evaluation imaging your upper and lower lids with the LipiScan test.
Our doctors will assess all of your eye symptoms and review your lifestyle habits and diet as well. Diagnostic tests will be performed to determine what the root cause of your dry eye is.
Our doctors will then prescribe the best dry eye treatment options that will reduce your dry eye symptoms so that you can feel better and regain an improved quality of life without the constant annoyance of dry eyes.

The tear film is composed of 3 layers: Oil, water, and mucous. A deficiency of one or more of these layers can cause a dry eye. Oil and/ or water deficiency is the most common case our that dry eye treatment specialists encounter and the most common reason why patients have difficulty wearing contact lenses.
Millions of people suffer from dry eyes. In fact, this syndrome is one of the most chronic and common problems we treat at our office in the San Jose, CA area. Dry eye treatment includes a variety of practices used to relieve the condition in which the front of the eye regularly becomes dry. This condition affects people of all ages and genders, especially post-menopausal women. Common symptoms of dry eye include a burning discomfort, a sandy, gritty feeling, red eyes, or a foreign body sensation. These dry eye symptoms usually worsen in climates that are hot and dry. Environments with air conditioning, heat, smoke, or wind will also irritate or cause red eyes.
We are one of the few Optometric practices in San Jose, CA that offer both the MiBoFlo and LipiFlow dry eye treatment for meibomian gland dysfunction or MGD. We now also offer IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) therapy, which aims to reduce the inflammation, one of the root causes of dry eye symptoms. If you have not had your eyes checked within the past year, please
make an appointment for a comprehensive eye exam. During that time, we will perform Lipiscan, a complimentary screening that allows us to know structurally if you have meibomian (oil) glands that are healthy or if there is atrophy of these glands that warrants professional dry eye treatment.
