I am originally from Los Angeles, California.  I attended UCLA for my undergraduate work in Biology and completed my doctor of Optometry degree at UC Berkeley.

After graduation, I left to practice a more extensive scope of optometry in Atlanta, Georgia.  There, I practiced in an office that specialized in vision therapy and vision rehabilitation.  I diagnosed and performed vision training for children and adults who have eye muscle coordination difficulties, €lazy eye,€ perceptual difficulties, and those with strabismus (one or both eyes turning to one side).  I also helped fit custom medical devices and performed rehabilitation training to help improve the vision function and visual performance for those patients with partial to complete vision loss (Low Vision).  At this clinic, I also served as an adjunct professor to the interns at our clinic.

Medically, I am trained to treat patients with eye infections, eye inflammations, eye injuries, and eye diseases such as glaucoma.  One of my main specialties is treatment of dry eyes.  I developed proven treatment that cures the cause of the dry eyes and not just the symptoms.  I consult with patients about their requirements to change their diet, exercise or overall lifestyle to improve their eye health.  My practice philosophy is that I want patients to be in good medical condition € good health means healthy eyes!  I love taking care of my patients and I can truly say €I love being an optometrist!€

I have over 15 years of experience in consulting refractive surgery and have worked with renowned surgeons in Atlanta and in the Bay Area.  I have a wide range of knowledge in refractive procedures such as RK, LASIK, EPI-LASEK, CLE, PRK, accommodating IOL, and Intacts.  I participated as 1 of 6 national principal investigators for Vistakon clinical trials for their new contact lens design.  I thrive on being at the forefront of new technologies and incorporate this philosophy in my office.

Outside of work, I love playing volleyball indoors and outdoors in the sand.  As a mother of two, I try to spend as much time as I can with my two boys.  I also enjoy working out, weight training, cooking, and photography.

€Making a difference in people€s lives€ has always inspired me in my optometric career. During the first year of my practice, I saved a 14-year old child€s life by diagnosing his brain tumor and referring him for timely treatment. I was able to experience, first hand, how being an eye care professional can make a difference in my patient€s life. I want to continue making this philosophy a reality, which is why I am so passionate about Optometry.

I attended UC Berkeley School of Optometry where I received invaluable knowledge and training. I performed my externship training at UCSF Medical Center where I worked closely with different specialists in the diagnosis and management of eye infections, dry eyes, pre and post LASIK/ cataract surgery. I had the opportunity to manage challenging post surgical cases. These cases stimulated my desire to fit specialty contact lenses such as contact lenses for keratoconus, Synergeyes hybrid lenses, multi-focal contact lenses as well as corneal refractive therapy lenses (CRT). It gives me great satisfaction when my patients can see 20/20 with these specialty contact lenses when it was impossible for them see this way with conventional eyeglasses.

I have also worked at the Sacramento VA Hospital where I focused on posterior segment diseases such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and vascular diseases of the retina. Many of these eye diseases are related to our health and lifestyles. I believe that every patient is unique and has their individual needs in terms of eye health. It is important that patients are educated not only about the symptoms or complications of the disease but also about the different treatment options available to help prevent the disease process from worsening. Working together one on one with patients to find the best solution to the problem is the best treatment plan.

Being able to communicate with patients effectively in different languages has been a great advantage to my patient care. I am fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin. I am able to communicate clinically in Spanish as well. Hopefully, I€ll pick up some Vietnamese soon from my co-workers.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending my time with my husband, Wayne. After we got married, we moved to the Silicon Valley. We enjoy the warm weather and do a lot of outdoor activities including biking, hiking and jogging. We regularly visit San Francisco to spend time with our extended family and friends, and to sample some of the best burritos and Chinese food the Bay Area has to offer.€ If you ever needed some recommendation on where to find the best dim sum or burrito in San Francisco, let me know.

I was born and raised in the Bay Area and always had a love to serve and benefit those around me. It wasn't until I discovered the importance of eyes and vision that I found my calling to become an Optometrist.

I attended the University of California at San Diego and graduated with a BS degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. I then traveled across the country to attend the State University of New York College of Optometry graduating with a Doctor of Optometry degree. It was here that I was able to serve in various community and special needs populations volunteering eye exams and glasses to serve those less fortunate. I also was able to travel to Oaxaca, Mexico to provide medical missions to indigenous villagers.

I am a therapeutic, lacrimal, and glaucoma certified optometrist who enjoys practicing full scope optometry. I am also a member of the American Optometric Association, California Optometric Association, and Santa Clara County Optometric Society. Through my interactions with so many doctors and patients, I have discovered that treating the patient, as one in your own family is the key to a successful patient-doctor relationship. I value the importance of education and desire to make the eye exam an experience in itself focusing not only on the eyes but overall health.

Outside of eyes, my wife and I enjoy traveling and finding new cuisines to eat along with spending time with friends and family. I also enjoy playing tennis and basketball as well as rooting for the Niners, Giants and Warriors! Serving in our church and community is also something we value greatly.
